Revana Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2003, 750ml

Revana Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2003, 750ml

“This Revana Cabernet Sauvignon is a great example of the 2003 vintage showing off ripe black cherry and cassis aromas. The purity of fruit is very enticing, with underlying layers of smoky, toasted French oak that add an accent of complexity. Round and rich in the mouth with gobs of fruit, silky tannins, wonderful structure and length. The flavors last a long time on the palate. The 2003 is consistent from start to finish with wonderful symmetry between nose and palate.”

Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate
Revealing a slightly darker ruby/purple hue, the medium-bodied 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon offers a more straightforward nose of earth, black fruits, and spice. More angular and not as complex or sweet as the luscious 2002, it displays moderate tannin as swell as decent acidity, suggesting it well keep for 10-12 years. 89 points

Sommelier Scott Tracy of Napa Valley’s La Toque restaurant says -
The 2003 Revana Cabernet Sauvignon does require decanting. The fruit tones are bright, lush and jammy; layers of cassis, cherry, sweet plum, black berry and a subtle note of black fig cascade on the tongue. The complex earthy notes of the wine surprised me; so much of the St. Helena valley floor fruit lacks the depth you experience from the Rutherford Bench. Mushroom notes highlight the earthiness of the center of the wine accompanying the spicy flavors of sandalwood, cola, white pepper and clove. It is the finish of the wine that sets the Revana as the thoroughbred of the 2003 vintage. 98-99 pts.
